Summary of research & findings

  • The paper studied 100 patients who had been exposed to toxic moulds in their homes.

  • Test confirmed mycotoxin exposure in all patients

  • Respiratory signs (sinus tenderness, wheezing, rhinorrhea) were found in 64% of all patients

  • Physical signs of neurological dysfunction (e.g. inability to stand on toes, or walk in a straight line with eyes closed, short term memory loss) were found in 70% of all patients

  • Abnormal autonomic nervous system tests were positive in 100% of the patients

  • Brain scans were abnormal in 86% of the 30 people sub group tested

  • Neuropsychological evaluations of 46 of the patients showed typical abnormalities in short term memory, executive function/ judgement, concentration and hand eye co-ordination
